Alex Cogswell, PhD

Professional Statement

My work is organized around helping youth and families to better understand and manage mental health challenges. Most of my clinical work is through the Children’s Psychiatry Clinic of Oishei Children’s Hospital, and I maintain a small private practice for emerging and young adults. The focus of my clinical work is on anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Outside of clinical work, I am involved in a variety of other activities in the department, with most of my efforts geared towards education of residents, fellows, and psychology graduate students. I am the Training Director of our Psychology Internship program, and direct an Advanced Practicum training program through the Children’s Psychiatry Clinic.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, and have learned to enjoy all four seasons that WNY has to offer.
