Professional Statement
As a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics and as the Interim Chair of the University at Buffalo Department of Psychiatry, I have focused my clinical work on the care of individuals with co-morbid psychiatric and medical conditions, including Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The overarching goal of my research is to investigate the impact and multi-modal treatment of mental illness in individuals with CF and their caregivers. I have worked to develop systems of care to improve their physical and emotional wellness throughout their lifespan. I have also translated my research findings into clinical practice for screening and treating anxiety and depression in individuals with CF. I hold a national leadership role in building capacity to address the mental health care needs of the CF community.
