Specialty/Research Focus
Professional Summary
I am Dr. Jennifer Haak, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and Associate Professor of Psychiatry within the department. My journey as a psychiatrist within the department has taken many turns with my varied interests, but it has always had a focus on educating medical students, residents and fellows and a commitment to creating new programs aimed at promoting the health and wellness of the underserved. For the past 5 years I have been integrally involved in the creation of the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program, Child and Adolescent Mobile Psychiatric Services team, and more recently the Eating Disorder IOP where I also serve as the medical director to each of these programs. I also consult with three local school districts, including Buffalo Public Schools and am a clinician educator dedicated to bringing mental health services and wellness out of the four walls of the traditional office and directly into communities where it is needed, breaking down structural barriers to health and educating our new physicians on this important aspect to healthcare. I have collaborated with many community organizations who share these mutual goals.
