Specialty/Research Focus

Child Welfare, Foster Care, Adoption; Attachment; Collaborative Care

Professional Summary

As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, my clinical practice focuses on the mental and emotional health of our community‘s youth. I primarily practice in the outpatient setting, seeing patients at the UBMD Psychiatry office in Amherst, and The Children’s Psychiatry Clinic downtown. I have developed a specific interest in the intersection of child welfare, foster care, and mental health. As part of that interest, I collaborate with several community partners and developed a website to provide educational resources to the WNY community regarding the child welfare and mental health systems. I also have an interest in collaborative care, providing consultation and education to pediatricians to increase their comfort level working with children‘s psychiatric concerns. Finally, I work with and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows through the medical school, the psychiatry residency program, and the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.

Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Buffalo, and take great pride giving back to the community that has shaped me into the physician and person I am today. Outside of medicine, I value time with my wife and two daughters. My kids have provided me with a wealth of lived experience that I bring into the clinical setting to improve my work as a psychiatrist. I am also an avid sports enthusiast, and am a committed fan of the Bills and Sabres.
