Professional Summary
I have spent the majority of my clinical practice in the acute hospital setting, working both inpatient and more recently in our psychiatric emergency room (CPEP). I hold a special interest in first break psychosis in young adults and have continued my education on this topic post residency to better understand the complexities involved in diagnosis and symptom management through both pharmacologic and therapeutic interventions, including CBT for psychosis. While working in the inpatient setting, I was fortunate to be able to spear head the creation of our early psychosis inpatient unit, which utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to the diagnosis and treatment of these individuals, education for their families, and coordination with speciality clinics (Navigate/ On Track) in the community. Although I am now working in our CPEP, I continue to enjoy working with this population as well as other patients when they present in crisis and assist with directing to the most appropriate level of care. I also hold a passion for education, having completed the medical educator track during residency and education chief residency position in my final year of training. I’ve continued teaching medical students and psychiatry residents both clinically and formally through didactics, with a goal to optimize our trainees understanding and skills in speaking with and treating our patients.
