Eating Disorders/Weight Management
Professional Statement
I offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based treatment for patients with suspected eating disorders or concerns related to eating and weight. I also provide consultation to patients and their families navigating the complex and often overwhelming landscape of eating disorder treatment, particularly following a first-time diagnosis.
In my practice, I use empirically-based interventions for adolescents and adults with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and more general difficulties such as relationship challenges or life transitions. I employ a range of approaches, predominantly cognitive-behavioral therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy, to help individuals reach collaboratively set goals. I am trained in family-based therapy (i.e., “The Maudsley Method”), which is considered a first-line treatment for adolescents with anorexia nervosa. In my clinical work, I collaborate with pediatricians, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, nutritionists, and family members to provide coordinated, optimal care to adolescents, adults, and families.
I am also involved in research and teaching missions within the Department of Psychiatry at the University at Buffalo. My research is focused on improving clinical interventions and subsequent outcomes for individuals with and those at risk for eating disorders and associated health concerns. I previously was Principal Investigator of a Randomized Controlled Trial testing peer mentorship as an adjunct intervention for patients seeking to recover from an eating disorder.

Personal Statement
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, and I’m happiest when I’m outdoors—no matter the season. I also have a strong interest in non-fiction reading as a way to continuously learn and gain new perspectives, something that helps me better connect with the individuals and families I work with. After two decades away, I’m proud to be back in the Buffalo area where I grew up, reconnecting with the community and region I’ve always called home.
