Professional Statement
I evolved into a career as a licensed clinical social worker over the years beginning with various positions at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Therapeutic Preschool Program. I started as a teacher’s assistant, later to become teacher-therapist, then as a family counselor with the program. I also worked as a Behavioral Specialist for the Early Childhood Program at Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center for several years. My scope of practice expanded to include older children and adolescents during my years working as a therapist at Children’s Psychiatry Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. I greatly value the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of professionals over the years including special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational and Physical Therapists, as well as psychiatrists and psychologists. I later worked as Liaison Coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for Primary Care Program (now Project Teach) and took part in the trainings held for local pediatric primary care providers to provide assistance to their patients’ mental health concerns. In 2016 I established a private practice in Lancaster where I provide psychotherapy to children and adults.
I have been at University Psychiatric Practice since 2013 providing psychotherapy services for children and their families, as well as adults with a variety of mental health conditions and/or adjustment related difficulties. I have utilized a variety of challenging life experiences to understand and appreciate the importance of resilience. In my work, I prioritize helping patients and their families to recognize their own internal strengths and utilize them to respond to the difficulties they experience.
